Our Services
Pattie Lynch, MSW, LICSW
Because I believe therapy is a unique experience for every person, I utilize interventions and techniques from many different treatment modalities including behavioral, cognitive, family systems, internal family systems, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, person-centered, psychodynamic, and trauma focused. My eclectic approach allows me to weave, in each session, interventions to meet each person’s therapeutic needs. My goal is to help every individual identify the areas in their life that cause emotional discomfort and pain and to work collaboratively to develop skills to change, manage and resolve the source(s) of distress.
Many years ago, I received a desk calendar with daily thoughts to reflect upon. A quote by the writer, Marilyn Ferguson, beautifully encapsulates my philosophy about my role as a therapist and the individual responsibility each person holds for personal contentment and peace…”No one can persuade another to change. Each of us guards a gate of change that can only be opened from the inside. We cannot open the gate of another, whether by argument or emotional appeal.” My commitment to every individual I work with is to help find, open, and walk through the gate.
Although I am not a Buddhist many tenants of Buddhism including “We are shaped by our thoughts” and “You deserve your own love and affection” guide my professional beliefs and practice. I use my knowledge and expertise to help individuals use therapy to change negative thoughts and to develop self-compassion and love by healing present and past wounds. Therapy is one of the best gifts you can give to yourself.

I believe effective therapy begins by developing a relationship in which one feels heard and understood. From that foundation my aim is to explore the ways in which you approach or avoid life’s challenges, identify effective and ineffective strategies you may be using to to manage those challenges, and collaboratively work together to build and enact strengths and flexible skills toward living a more confident, considered, and fulfilling life.
It can be difficult to reach out for help. Be assured. I have a great deal of experience in helping to manage stress, overcome addictions, negotiate difficult life circumstances and transitions, and deploy effective coping skills. I provide a safe place to explore challenges and develop new ways of being.
I work with folks who have too often been marginalized such as people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and gender non-conforming.
Training and experience have equipped me to work with post-traumatic stress, mental health problems such as depression and anxiety, multi-cultural concerns and challenges, family relationship issues, and work and life adjustments.
